J'aime beaucoup les bandes dessinées de l'auteur sur Instagram, mais j'ai enlevé une étoile car il s'agit exactement des mêmes planches que celles déjà publiées sur Instagram. Un peu déçue de n'avoir rien trouvé d'inédit.
Très joli livre plein de poésie et de sagesse, pour les amoureux des livres. Les illustrations sont superbes.

Really, I love Debbie. I totally get this tale of introversion, told with subtle humor. I kept thinking "yes, yes, yes". But I'm not really the one who needs to read it. Give it to your extroverted friends who don't get you. She lays out introversion in an easy to digest form.The publisher provided me a copy for review, but I preordered the final version. This is a must-have volume for any introvert.
This graphic novel left me with the warm fuzzies. I’ve been trying to look for books about QuietGirlInANoisyWorldintroversion versus extroversion, both for reference in caring for introverted children and those that can help them better understand themselves. As the author alludes, most social institutions favor extroverts over introverts. This book falls into the “understand yourself†category.Tung’s experience in school, where the teacher insists that she need to “come out of her shell†is one I experienced in my own childhood. Even now, while I’m in the classroom, I worry more about the quiet students. It isn’t a bad thing to worry about them, but I should be more aware of how I am making them feel about their personalities and social tendencies.The actual content of the novel illustrated different social tendencies and insecurities the author has had over her introverted nature. By the end of the novel, the author has illustrated how she learned more about her personality type and “took a stand†to accept herself and carve her own path in a career that worked for her. I also liked how she talked about her self-care practices to let her “recharge her batteriesâ€.This is a book I would like to include in my classroom library, and maybe if we had a unit that focused on finding yourself or celebrating differences.
Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story is a brilliant autobiography of the introverted author, Debbie Tung, as she learns to negotiate her way in an extrovert's world. She's in graduate school when it starts, working on her dissertation. She enters "adulthood", and lands her first job, while wondering in what direction she should take her life. Each page (or sometimes two) contains its own story, and each story rings true. She starts out filled with self-doubt, and the desire to please others. Most of the time what she'd like best is being home with a hot mug of tea and a good book. Sound familiar?Tung is honest, self-deprecating and funny. She's also enormously likeable. There's a gradual recognition that she's not alone in being an introvert, and she develops a freedom as she finds ways to balance the different parts of her life and how she wants to approach them. I loved every bit of this one.
Extremely relatable. I absolutely ADORE this book. I love comics featuring introverted characters, being an INFP, myself. It was so wonderful following Debbie's journey to discovering herself. It's a journey that I'm sure most introverts can relate to: discovering the intricacies of introversion, that there are others out there, and that introversion is something to celebrate, not be ashamed of. Highly recommend this to my fellow introverts out there! Worth every penny!
I really enjoyed this book and am sad to reach the end. I can't wait to read more of Debbie's work. I feel like she is my close friend as I am also an introvert who LOVES books and tea! There were moments in this book that caused me to tear up because I've grown up feeling exactly the same way. There were also hilarious moments causing me to laugh out loud. Like Debbie I am learning to accept and love myself.
